Hand in hand to joint success
The aspect of economic participation is one of the key issues in sustaining and strengthening local acceptance and thus in the implementation of the energy transition in the corresponding local projects. Therefore in all Germany the interest of communities in the possibilities of participation has risen enormously which will make an adaptation of the legal framework and conditions necessary that so far have provided narrow limits only. Within the framework of the update of the regional plan, the planning region of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte (Mecklenburg Lake District) has already defined concrete demands with regard to the involvement of the municipalities. Our project RH2-PTG addresses this will and is to open the possibility of participation in the scheme for the concerned municipalities on the basis of intercommunal cooperation. We are planning to inform the communities in detail about the possibilities to participate and to conduct an intensive dialogue with them regarding the different forms of participation.
The communal advice centre on the energy transition at the Städte- und Gemeindetag Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (cities’ and communities’ council), which is being sponsored by the Federal state, is supposed to help municipalities to describe and enter their communal positions. The centre was especially founded for the purpose of strengthening the municipalities’ positions in such participation processes. It is acting state-wide as a possible tutor in those processes in the case of questions and looks after many communities with regard to projects like that.
